Two thousand pages built by system, not by hand, and budgeted accordingly

BoilerPart.ca runs a 2,000-page programmatic content engine built by Ali's agencies, showing how systems lower the unit cost of growth for BC trades firms

The situation

A parts-focused business has a very long list of products and questions to cover, and writing every page by hand would cost more than the pages could ever return. The challenge was to cover the whole catalogue at a unit cost per page low enough to make the investment sensible, while keeping each page useful enough to attract and convert a buyer. That meant designing a system first and producing content second.

What was done

  • Structured the catalogue and the questions around it into data that could drive page templates
  • Built a programmatic engine to generate and maintain pages at scale
  • Set quality rules so generated pages stayed useful rather than thin
  • Measured cost per page and traffic per page to judge the return on the build
  • Kept the system maintainable so adding products did not restart the cost

What it means for value

Unit economics apply to marketing as much as to products. When the cost per page falls from a hand-built figure to a system-built one, the same budget covers far more ground and the return per dollar improves. For a finance lead the lesson is to invest in the system once, treat it as a capital project with a payback period and then measure the ongoing cost of maintenance against the enquiries it produces. We apply that thinking to automation across the finance function, alongside your CPA.
